Supporting Immigrant Students in Uncertain Times

Supporting Immigrant Students in Uncertain Times: Tools for College Access Professionals

📅 Thursday, April 16, 2026🕘 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM💻 Zoom

Supporting immigrant students has become increasingly complex as shifting immigration policies, heightened enforcement, and widespread uncertainty cause many young people to question whether college is still within reach. College access professionals are often on the front lines of this challenge—navigating fear, misinformation, and systemic barriers while keeping students focused on their educational goals.

To help our community better understand the landscape and strengthen our collective capacity, PCPR is pleased to welcome leaders from the Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, the only national organization dedicated exclusively to the intersection of immigration and higher education. With more than 550 member campuses, the Presidents' Alliance provides research, policy guidance, and practical tools that support institutions and the professionals who serve immigrant students.

During this session, presenters will introduce two key resources designed to help educators, counselors, and college access practitioners respond effectively to the needs of undocumented, DACA‑eligible, refugee, and other immigrant students:

The Campus Preparedness Toolkit

A comprehensive guide to institutional readiness, student support strategies, and best practices for creating safer, more informed campus environments.

Supporting Mental Health Amid Uncertain Immigration Status

A resource outlining the psychological impacts of immigration stressors and offering actionable approaches to support students' well‑being.

Participants will leave with concrete strategies, updated information, and tools they can use immediately to help students stay on track toward college despite the challenges they face.
