Free Money 4 Philly is a citywide campaign designed to inform all of our residents about updates to the FAFSA application process, share additional tools and resources for financing college and keep you up to date with local activities and events for support and technical assistance.  Money for college is available and we can help point you in the right direction!


To apply for federal student aid, you need to complete the FAFSA® (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid).


Here are some resources to help parents save for college, learn about financial aid, and understand the application process.


Federal Student Aid provides resources on preparing for college or career school, applying for aid, consumer protection, and more.


An FSA ID gives you access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can serve as your legal signature.


Electronically submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students interested in financial aid for college will need to complete this form.


The Pennsylvania State Grant Program is a financial assistance program that provides funding to eligible Pennsylvanians and helps them afford the costs of higher education.

To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will need:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
  • Your most recent federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
